PS Audio BHK signature preamp
"Best" tubes will depend on the rest of your system and preferences. I preferred unusual choices: red label CBS/Hytron 5814a or Raytheon black plate 5814a tubes. Siemens and Telefunkens were just too bright with my Tidal Piano Ceras for my tastes....
PS Audio BHK signature preamp
I agree with audphile1 about not rushing to tube roll. The latest tubes that PSA ships the BHK with are very decent tubes. After the preamp is broken in and you've got a handle on the sound is the time to think about whether it might be tweaked in...
Xangsane SP-9001AG silver interconnect
FWIW, I tried both Xangsane's SP-9003 RCA silver interconnect and P-6008Ag power cord out of curiosity. Both were ok at best,  somewhat lacking in their ability to reveal fine nuances in my two systems. The RCA connector quality is flimsy compared...
PS Audio BHK signature preamp
I used a BHK pre for quite a few years in rotation with a Luxman C-700u, DeHavilland UltraVerve III, &  ModWright LS36.5. It was an excellent sounding preamp that held its own with respect to the others. Of course, each has its particular stro...
In the sand box
Efficacy of a sandbox depends on the turntable design in my experience. With my Acoustic Signature Final Tool turntable a heavy sandbox made no discernible difference. However, replacing the factory "cone" feet with Stillpoints did make a differen...
Turntable suggestions for a newbie
You ask if location is a legitimate concern. For perspective from a current owner of the MoFi deck with that exact concern, head over to PS Audio's website and go to their forum. Look up the thread " Too much subwoofer activity." Seems that the Mo...
Luxman M-700U Power amp
Yes, I have a Luxman M-700u amp. For context’s sake, I rotate it with PS Audio M1200 mono amps and ModWright KWA99 mono amps. I use it with PS Audio BHK, Luxman m700u, DeHavilland UltraVerve III, and Modwright LS36.5 preamps. It’s used in two syst...
Finding Power Amp for Cabasse Murano
I'd seriously consider Cabasse's own Abyss amplier (less than 2k. new) Read the reiviews, you might find it worth considering.
Auralic Aries S1 streamer
Not sure where you are located, but according to those on the Auralic forum who have ordered them in the USA, they just started to ship from the distributor in the last few days. They listed their new products for sale on their website quite in ad...
Zavfino and Neotech OCC Interconnect
I had Sonic Craft make me a 13' set of Neotech 3001 Mk. III single ended cables terminated with Cardas connectors and I think they give good performance for the money. They are neutral tonally, neither too bright nor rolled off. Another excellent ...
Hearing aids
This question has been repeatedly asked over many years in numerous forums and the result is always the same: everyone's experience is different. Some found no worthwhile benefits, others found quality aids transformative (my audio loving wife's e...
Telos Mini Quantum Resonator (MQR) & Puron Filter together
I've been using a Telos Mini-Q for several months and am very happy with the improvement in sound quality. My results mirror other's findings as to the nature of improvements. I found the Telos to be more to my liking than using an EU4 plug. I'm u...
Question about Shunyata Power Conditioners
It's hard to give a meaningful response to your initial question without knowing the details of your system IMO. The better your system, the more likely you'll be able to discern the benefits of better power conditioning and cabling. When audiophi...
New Class D amplifiers
At present, I have a Luxman m-700u/c-700u combo and PS Audio M1200 mono/PS Audio BHK preamp combo in rotation. The PSA M1200 amps use IcePower modules with proprietary tubed input stage. These two amplifiers are a near dead heat in sound quality, ...
I am considering a luxman 3600 tube amp as my first adventure into tube amplifiers?
There's more to the issue of whether 30 watts are enough for a 86-87db, sensitivity speaker than the plan to use it at low to medium volumes. If there's an impedance mismatch for your speakers they're going to sound anemic and un-involving at any ...
