what headphones work for sports and activities? I've got the Etymotic ER-4P which are great for isolating outside noise. The downside is the cord is very microphonic, you'll hear it rubbing against your clothing when you move. Not sure I would recommend them for what you want to use them for.
What do I look for in used records? Eldartford- Thanks for the info, I've seen Audio Fidelity records over the years but never bought/listened to one. Sounds like I'm missing something good!
What do I look for in used records? To add a little bit more to the above posts, the first mass produced stereo recordings were available in the late 1950's. I believe they were predominately classical releases (someone correct me if I'm wrong). The collectors go primarily for the R...
Speakers for low level listening Thanks for the replies! I did do a search of the archives but something must have been wrong with the system because I didn't get anything back. The proper search term can also be a problem some times. I did start looking through all the speaker p...
CAL Audio Icon MkII repair CAL is out of business so you won't find them on the web. There was a former employee who was doing repair work, his name escapes me now, but if you search the archives you might find it. Someone else may also recall his name and have a current e-...
Strangely Overloaded Bass with SF Concertos.... What are the dimensions of the room? If anything the bass would be less out in the room versus on a shelf, unless there is a serious room mode.
Best Full Range Speakers For Under $1100 ? If used is OK then give consideration to the Vandersteen 2Ce Signature. I've seen a couple of pairs recently in your price range. Nice speakers, easy to drive, and definitely full range.
I am confused about 15A and 20A current. Do not just replace the breaker! In order to use a 20 Amp breaker you need a minimum of 12 gage wire. If the current breaker is 15 Amp then most likely the circuit is wired with 14 gage. I do not recommend you do anything to this circuit. To be ho...
Really, Really old lp's Yes these are old! They are definitely 78's which are shellac based so be very careful when cleaning, no alcohol should be used as it will disolve the record! I would search the archives to see if there are any recommended cleaning formulas. As fo...
Mid West Record Shows? There's a pretty good show in Columbus, OH see this link http://www.columbusproductions.com/colsprodwww/collecto.htm . Next show is this Saturday (20 Sep). I will say that this show used to be quite large, but over the past few years it has shrunk...
What does your common sense tell you? This is a tough one! I had a similar situation as a buyer and asked the forum here how to handle, the majority opinion was the seller makes the decision. As a seller I would be inclined to honor the first person to respond if they were serious. A ...
Does something happen when speakers face each othe Another thing to check out, if you have a separate amp or processor for the rear channels it may be inverting phase (or the front may be). If the electronics are shared between front and back this is not an issue.
A Car Stereo Question I'm almost certain that GM (Delco) radios do not have this capability. Can't speak for any others.
To retube or not to retube? Rather than swapping at the cartridge end, why not swap at the other end? That is, swap the RCA connectors at the preamp.
How to Liven up a room When you say drywall all around, does that inlcude the ceiling? If it doesn't and the ceiling is open joists that may be your problem. If the ceiling is finished and you can't remove the carpeting your best solution might be near field listening. ... |
