Is good customer service about dead?
I know this echoes some of the responses earlier in this thread, but Bobby at Merlin provides spectacular customer service. Manley is also amazing - they've been wonderful taking care of my Manley gear, all of which I purchased second hand! Tash G...
REFERENCE 3A DULCET REVIEW
Whoops, just noticed a typo in the third paragraph, above. It should say "… completely UNinterested in tonality."
REFERENCE 3A DULCET REVIEW
Toddnkaya, Tholt, Rburke: Thank you very much for the kind thoughts. I really enjoyed writing the review – it took a long time, actually – and if it's useful and/or entertaining to someone, I'm happy.
REFERENCE 3A DULCET REVIEW
Ryriken,Thanks for your question. I am reluctant to compare the two models head-to-head, because they are quite different, actually. Also, so much is dependent upon associated equipment, room acoustics, taste and so forth. I will also be honest an...
REFERENCE 3A DULCET REVIEW
Telescope_trade,Are either of your speakers the very latest model with the "acoustic lens" in the middle of the driver? If so, what differences do you notice between that and the older version with the fat phase plug? Thanks!
REFERENCE 3A DULCET REVIEW
Thanks a lot for the nice comment! I had a lot of fun writing the review.
reference 3a MM decapo ia or magnepan 1.7?
Kingmacaw,Congrats, and I hope you enjoy your Maggies.Since you asked earlier in the thread about a Bay Area dealer for Reference 3A, thought I'd mention that the dealer whose name I couldn't remember earlier in the thread is Blue Moon. They're in...
reference 3a MM decapo ia or magnepan 1.7?
Kingmacaw,For info on hearing the Emerald Physics in your area you should contact Walter Liederman of underwoodhifi-dot-com. He owns the company. As for the Reference 3A's, I know there's a hifi dealer somewhere in the Bay Area who carries the line...
reference 3a MM decapo ia or magnepan 1.7?
Kingmacaw,For what it's worth, I've owned the LSA1 Statements (twice!) and I currently run the Ref 3A Dulcets, little brother to the De Capo. There's a lot to like about the LSA's, but in my room with my equipment, even the teeny weenie Dulcets sm...
decware err radial speakers
Tim (Frazeur1) -- Okay, then, no more omni-related posts from me. :-) Seriously, I wonder what that omni-ribbon tweet combo sounds like. Do tell us, if you get to hear 'em.Mapman -- I'm sure there's some snappy response to your last post but right...
Which monitor speaker to choose??
Mapman -- thanks for the shout out! Yes, the Reference 3A line all feature crossover-less designs (i.e., other than a protective capacitor on the tweeter, there's no crossover between the woof/mid and the amp) and raked front baffles for time alig...
Is it worth upgrading my tonearm?
Thanks for those tips, guys! I'd never heard of Audiomods before.
bookshelf for classical music under $2000
Great list. I might also add Merlin TSM in one of its various iterations to the list. They come up for sale fairly regularly, used, these days on this website. They are very revealing and resolving and have a fabric dome Tweeter and are definitely...
decware err radial speakers
Tim,As the originator of the famous/infamous "Micro Walsh Tall" mega-thread, I, too, would be very interested in your shootout between the two speaker technologies. Hope you get to do it!
Reference 3A Grand Veena vs DeVore Nines: RoomSize
Cfernandez86,My room is smaller than yours: about 13 x 16 with a 10 foot ceiling. Livelier than ideal, but somewhat damped with an area rug, window shades and some furniture. Hope this helps.
