Austin TX — February, 2009
I am really glad that this is happening and I am going to do my best to attend!I had tried last fall to get another meeting together. I had visited another, very high-end audio shop in Austin (that shall remain nameless) and they were NOT interest...
Ribbon Tweeters???
I had a pair of LSA1 Statements for a time. They use an Aurum Cantus ribbon tweeter, I believe. The highs were sweet and airy, very nice! One of the raps on ribbon tweeters, in the past, has been that they are difficult to integrate seamlessly with...
Merlin TSM comparisons
They should. Bobby describes them as "stupid good" for the price.

jfz,Yeah, Lars is really nice. But I agree that there's no substitute for a real, metric hex wrench to tighten down those set screws. Anything less and the wire will work its way loose from the connector, at least in my experience.
Merlin TSM with Shindo 25 watt amp
Mikeyc8,I don't think "loudness" should be the only criteria here.Agreed. I should have said something like, "plenty of slam and dynamics." :-)
Merlin TSM with Shindo 25 watt amp
FWIW, I am running my TSM's in a 16 x 13 x 8 room with a pair of Manley Mahi monoblocks. I never take 'em out of triode mode (20 watts/channel) and they play PLENTY loud for me! I've tried them in UL mode (40 watts/channel) and I miss that gloriou...
SS amp for Merlin VSMs?

Bryston & Harbeths - Good Match?
The Ohm line is definitely worth a look. Whether their "pseudo-omni" presentation floats your boat is something you'd have to judge for yourself, but the Micro Walsh Talls boast a tiny footprint, great low end, tonal neutrality (great for voices) ...

What I learned on Audiogon This Year
I've learned that:1) A'gon is a great place to learn about audio. :-D2) A'gon is kind of like a virtual 12-step meeting for people who are addicted to system tinkering. ;-)3) Selling and buying from fellow A'gon'ers is generally a very pleasant ex...
Green Mountain Audio "vs" Reference 3a
Lew,Could you explain further what you mean by "asymmetric off axis response?"
