Hi-res streaming on Qobuz
I have a Lyngdorf TDAI 3400 that appears as a UPNP device on my network, it’s fead via a Network Acoustics ENO Ag. If I stream high res or low res from Qobuz via the MConnect HD app on my iPad it sounds dull and undynamic compared with the same tr...
spend on the streamer or on the DAC ?
I would emphasise here that the performance of the combined streamer/DAC is affected considerably by the configuration of your wired Ethernet delivery. I would go for a 50/50 streamer DAC ratio, connected by USB if possible, with a really good cab...
DAC Chips
Absolutely right Mr goofy foot
Streaming for beginner
For best quality streaming, yes to Qobuz, yes to wired Ethernet, but the network implementation is important. Cheap 4-way or 8-way network switches by D-Link etc. act as buffers to induced network noise. Change the included wallwart PSU to an IFi ...
Bluesound installed DAC - music killer?
All streamers I’ve tried that are hard wired to Ethernet improve dramatically with the Network Acoustics ENO RFI filter. Highly recommend!
the sound of massed violins in classical orchestral recordings
Barber’s Adagio for strings, the climax at the end of the piece is a very good demonstration of this phenomenon. Very intense string power! If you’re using a streamer/ network bridge with a wired connection, then RFI induced down the network cable ...
Ok now I am frustrated with streaming
I’ve been streaming with several streamers since 2008. I’ve never experienced distortion or dropouts. I’ve always found wired Ethernet sounds better than WiFi, by some distance. I’ve been researching improving sound quality for wired Ethernet and ...
Looking for a front end streamer only.
I’ve used an Allo USBridge Signature, running Moode, controlling It with it’s own web page for radio, and Bubble Upnp for Qobuz and local streaming from my NAS. It’s so cheap you can just buy it to try it out for £300. I use an iFi iPower PSU with...
USB sucks
I’ve had great success with USB, I use an Allo USBridge signature connected via a Shunyata Venom cable into my Lyngdorf 3400. Easy. Never had a problem, terrific sound. You must pay attention to the Ethernet feed though to the streamer. I use an E...
What have you been working on in 2020?
Research into eliminating RF noise in Ethernet cables and it’s effect on sound quality. Very enlightening. Have now developed a product that works very well to get rid of it.In the process I’ve also made two identical Ethernet cables, one made fro...
Great Intergated amp with great built in DAC
Lyngdorf TDAI 3400. Has Room Correction built in too. Best I’ve experienced to date.
Why are there so many wooden speakers?
Mine are made from cast iron, Jern 14EH, and are stunningly good. No colouration. They need a couple of subs, but give high end quality at full range in a small form factor for a good price.
Everything Matters With Digital
One’s and zero’s in Ethernet are detected by the voltage transitioning through zero volts in a positive going, or negative going direction. The twisted pairs in an Ethernet cable, (Tx+ and Tx- for example) are balanced and the voltage swings from ...
Looking for "perfect" streamer....
All Streaming devices I’ve heard are sensitive to EMI/RFI picked up in the Ethernet cables. When you’ve settled on the right device for you, in terms of functionality, the sound quality can be enhanced further with an in-line passive filter. This ...
to my ears digital audio does not sound natural? something is wrong!
My Allo USBridge signature streamer, fead by Ethernet and an ENO RFI filter, into the Lyngdorf TDAI 3400 sounds incredibly life-like, natural and involving. The £4000 turntable and phono stage plays second fiddle to it.
