Carpenters' Ticket to Ride (as a kid I hated them. What can I say? Tastes change. Rarely, but they do.)Surprised nobody has mentioned this along with Superstar. 5th Dimension's Never My Love. That was quite an unexpected wow.
The Best Compliment You've Gotten On Your Rig?
Great thread. I too love the guy satisfyingly putting his finger on it claiming it as a Samsung and then his zinger of an exit line. It was too good to be offended by.Mine a friend listening to an obc which we had listened to since we were kids an...
High End is Dead?
'If this statement hits too close to home then you might consider getting up out of your specially crafted chair that is both comfortable and yet not so absorptive as to damage the soundstage of that 1958 recording bootlegged out of that acoustica...
Again the topic of weight of amps
When you're in a small city apartment you are sometimes moving things around and cleaning(dust dust dust) you've got this humungous thing just sitting there. No matter how splendid it sounds it's just plain awkward. I remember when somebody asked ...
My Thoughts re: Dealers Posting on Audiogon
The dealers who post here for the most part have an educated appreciative light touch which they use conservatively. The elephant in the room is the one who always puts the heavy heavy hand on the wrong note. A number of times I've turned to a thre...
What are the weak points of Pass amps and pre-amps ?
I had a 350.8 so I'll address the heat issue. I found it surprisingly warm to the touch. But it did not heat the room.I would have loved to have kept it but it was just too large for my small apartment. As it is so small I am very sensitive to heat...
Vandersteen 7 mark ll or big Kef blades
I've heard the Kef and it's a great speaker. Wonderful really. But if you have the money go with the Vandersteen 7. It's one of those if only I were a lottery winner speakers.Pure magic.
Vandersteen 7 mark ll or big Kef blades
I have to add Doc that your persistence that long ago took a bounding leap crossing the line into obnoxiousness which in no way causes you to be chastened or embarrassed by unending criticism is in a very perverse way impressive.
What’s wrong with Diana Krall?
'Few classical music lovers would think jazz bad taste , many are jazz fans themselves .Most I know think of rock as bad to horrible taste . They don't hate people who love rock, they pity them .' I think you're talking about an elderly generation...
Classical Music for Aficionados
My favorite comment about classical music comes from Horowitz. When asked what he thought of Beethoven he replied,'I prefer Lehar.'
A new chapter has begun.
To Larry,I certainly understand the confusion. But sometimes it is not too difficult to figure out. Just cut and paste the abbreviation, put it in your search engine and see what this refers to in terms of audio. Sometimes these numbers refer to s...
What responsibility does a seller have to tell a customer an item has been serviced?
You do realize that if a component has been repaired it's trade in value is less? How can you all not know this? And to find out from the dealer I gave it too?!!The hysterical outrage and mockery particularly by the barking dog simply because I've...
What responsibility does a seller have to tell a customer an item has been serviced?
'Anyway he is not obligated but it would have been a nice gesture.'Yes and as I said he DID make the offer. But being that he told me he already had a customer for it I felt it incredibly unfair to take a sale from him when he kept his part of the...
What responsibility does a seller have to tell a customer an item has been serviced?
Steve I just saw your last line. Wow. Are you a psychic? Not the brand but the quirk.
What responsibility does a seller have to tell a customer an item has been serviced?
Steve gosh no. He has an excellent approval rating with many encomiums which is why I did business with him in the first place. But not everything goes to one's liking.
