Food: what does the typical audiophile eat?
@cdc  Now I get it...cdc stands for Centers for Disease Control.
Do you past equipment appear in your dreams?
No nighttime dreams, but I occasionally have fond waking thoughts of some things that I 've owned, like the Spendor SP100's and the Nestorovic 5AS. Neither is as good as what I have now, but they had their own good personalities and brought me hap...
The Horror
@erik_squires I strongly disagree with your opinion of the intent of @audiodidact ’s thread. I think that it was sincere, if a bit tongue in cheek. I also thought that it was interesting because many of us have likely found ourselves feeling som...
Cornwall IV vs. Volti Rival, Razz; Razz v. 1, 2, 3 -- what changed?
Some of you may recall that Greg got his start years ago offering first cosmetic upgrades to Klipschorns on ebay, and then horn and driver upgrades, then finally starting his own company and producing his own speakers. He was definitely inspired b...
Recommendations for really well-recorded music for high-end audio system demo
Most discs by Chris Isaak.
How Long Should a First Watt SIT3 Last ?
Don't buy that First Watt without hearing it. I owned the Quicksilver monos, and had trouble with them also, besides being lukewarm on the sound, but I also had a First Watt 7, and it sounded nothing like the Quicksilvers. I understand that the SI...
Best way to offload currently inoperative Conrad Johnson MV60?
I agree with @ghdprentice . Fix it and you'll get a good price. You can't be that busy. People who say they have no time for anything still make time for things that they want to do.
The Horror
@audiodidact  Who's that on the cover of Time magazine? Anyway, I think many of us have felt what you're feeling. I do think you're being too hard on yourself. You chose what you chose because it sounded good to you at the time, and it was withi...
Dirty little secret of Pedigreed, decades old Speaker line - no one will address
@john1  " Zero high end manufacturers (other then YG) over countless decades, using aluminum cone mr drivers amounting to nothing, rather then some kind of something, goes considerably beyond being unlikely as to being insignificant." That sente...
Would you move to a bigger house if you could just to have a better listening room ?
@yoyoyaya  That's good perspective. I think that many Americans like me don't realize that most Europeans have smaller homes. I do know that, and I feel fortunate to have a 13 x 11x 9 dedicated room, knowing that that is the size of living rooms ...
Cornwall IV vs. Volti Rival, Razz; Razz v. 1, 2, 3 -- what changed?
@hilde45  It really depends on your priorities. If dynamics are high on your list, you’ll learn to live with the imperfections. I did when I had them years ago, and that was much older ones, and my supporting gear wasn’t as good. I’d suggest try...
Would you move to a bigger house if you could just to have a better listening room ?
I have had a dedicated listening room in most of the houses I've owned, and those rooms have been larger than the one I have now, which is a spare bedroom, but I find that I enjoy this one just as much.
What is the Best Sounding Stand Mount Speaker in the world?
@mihorn  That is one of the most nonsensical things I have ever read!
Dirty little secret of Pedigreed, decades old Speaker line - no one will address
@john1  Your last sentence made no sense.  Beyond that, what is your stake in all of this? Why do you care? If they are outdated as you say, the market will decide, and YG will suffer the consequences.
Solid Tech Radius Solo 3 Audio Stand
