tonearm match ZYX Universe Moerch and Triplanar
I have never used a ZYX, so I can't respond directly to your question. I did recently replace my DP-6 with 12" Red wand with a Triplanar VII.2 so I do have some idea of the differences between the two arms. The Triplanar has greater resolution and...
Need Cart Rec for Moerch DP-6
The choice depends on which arm wand you're using. I had very good results with a Benz Glider M2 in a 12" Red wand on my DP-6. Also a Benz L2 but that is a bit over your price range if you buy new.Dave
Moerch DP6 or UP 4
Do a search at Vinyl Asylum for a post by Fretless regarding both Moerch arms. He has a UP-4 and has listened to the DP-6 as well. I have used a DP-6 with 12" red wand for nearly 3 years, and have been very pleased with it. It sounds very good and...
Re-issue vinyl vs. the original pressing
Salvatore's comments are mainly directed to classical reissues. He says in the text that: "The original pressings of Rock, Pop and Jazz LPs are almost always preferable to the vast majority of their respective reissues."I can certainly vouch for ...
What Turntable to Buy
Clarock, a couple of additional comments. Before my Galibier, I used a VPI 19 Mk.III with SDS and VPI JMW-10. Cartridge was a Glider M2. I went to the Galibier Gavia, first with what is now called the Serac platter (PVC) and I then upgraded to the...

What Turntable to Buy
Doug, While I will certainly second the recommendation of the Galibier Gavia (being a satisfied owner myself), your pricing is a bit off the mark. The basic Gavia with a PVC platter is $4500. The standard Gavia with a Gavia platter is $7000, and t...
High end turntables Why? 2 tonearms
I am not using the new Stelvio armboard. I am using the old style armboard which is 3/4" aluminum with lots of holes drilled in it. The Moerch arm extends through the bottom of the armboard similar to a Rega and lots of other arms, so it won't fit...
High end turntables Why? 2 tonearms
That's right. It's not an electrical interaction issue. My Artemis phono stage has a single input, so only one arm was connected to the outside world at a time. The other arm was just sitting there. Now I don't know how much can be generalized fro...
High end turntables Why? 2 tonearms
I have tried Red Oak and Hard Maple. The maple didn't affect the sound as much as the oak, but neither was acceptable.Dave
High end turntables Why? 2 tonearms
Since no one has responded to Groovey's question re sonic interaction between 2 arms, I'll throw in my 2 cents. I have a Galibier Gavia which has mounting holes for 2 arms. I have a Moerch DP-6 mounted on a Galibier aluminum armboard that is secur...
Best Cartridge for Rega RB 300 and RB1000 ?
Paul, Which mass wand do you use on the Moerch arm with the 103R?Dave
Turntable stand, steel, aluminum, shelves of ?
Dan, I don't use the buttons under my Gavia because I don't use the spikes. I have the turntable base sitting directly on whatever plinth I am using at the time. Same thing for the motor pod.At various times I've tried the spikes Thom supplied, an...
Turntable stand, steel, aluminum, shelves of ?
Ken, The reactions to maple butcherblock are not all favorable. If you do a search of the archives on Agon or AudioAsylum, you will find a number of folks (including me) have found thick maple---3" in my case---to be too slow, thick and dead sound...
Turntable stand, steel, aluminum, shelves of ?
I use a Sound Anchors turntable stand for my Galibier Gavia table. The stand is made of welded steel filled with sand and PVC damping tubes. It is firmly spiked into the flooring with steel spikes. The table does not have any suspension and it res...
