Thiel Owners I had the 3.6....listen to Vandersteens.....the same kind of sound....Thiels are a bit more brilliant (high frequency favoring)
Is my amp good enough? what do you mean "best"... all improvements make the final result better. This hobby will surely slim down your wallet.
What was the first power cable that you noticed a difference in the sound? Get all the other ducks in order before spending hundreds on a power cord
SME tonearms on a japanese market What are you trying to accomplish, or are you just trying out arms
Speaker placement Quandary It's not only distance from the wall, but. how far apart they are, tilt, etc. The only way to be satisfied is to try everything and choose your best. I have very heavy speakers too.....the joys of an audiophile
Still looking for a new Moving Coil Cartridge I have an Ortofon Winfield and a Benz LPS (my favorite)...both excellent
B&W Matrix 800 vs the Matrix 801s2 look at Vandersteens

Speaker Cable Recommendation Nordost is bright.....Cardas is dull.... always buy with return privileges...even if it a bit more. Find the cable YOU like
Ohm Speakers, thoughts? I remember Ohm A's and F's.....didn't have a wallet fat enough, but absolutely loved them both...I think I heard them with Phase Linear amps
All Pre 1970 Vintage speakers suck! Prove me wrong When were Infinity Servo-Static 1A around? Tannoy? (those were my favorites)
The Audiophile Upgrade Easiest to Ignore ....All the more that I miss the real thing
Thiel Owners I had a 3.6 . Although they were voiced differently than Vandersteen offerings, what they did have and what I respond to is phase coherency.
The Audiophile Upgrade Easiest to Ignore nope....not nearly as good as live music or music through a very high end stereo. It's better with hearing aids, but "fake". Its a great loss to anyone who appreciates what a real violin really sounds like in real space.
Five feet from the front wall also check toe and tilt....very important with my speakers |
