HAVE YOU ARRIVED AT YOUR FINAL SYSTEM AND WHAT’S IN IT? WHAT ARTIST IS YOUR GO TO?
@idcabinfever The journey is increasingly expensive and at some point most of us learn to like where we are. Nice to know I’m not the only one for whom this is true. ;o)

How easily can you distinguish between different DACs?
@audiodwebe If I were you, I’d demo a broad range of DACs in your system before making any judgements, either about the gear or your ability to discern differences.
Gregg Allman .......I cannot believe it has been 5 years.
@slaw  ... only if you draw a target on your shoe before pulling the trigger !
Jazz for aficionados
@mahgister  I'm envious -- if I find one unfamiliar recording per month to enjoy, I'm consider myself lucky! Can we clone your ears and transplant them onto my head?   ;o)
Real or Surreal. Do you throw accuracy out the window for "better" sound?
@mijostyn  People could easily see me as "inherently dissatisfied." As you suggest this may be true for some, but I look at it as a challenge, making a system sound the way I want, then doing it reliably. The only time I look at it negatively is...
Real or Surreal. Do you throw accuracy out the window for "better" sound?
@inna  I never met a music lover who didn’t like good sound too How many musicians do you know?
Schiit Audio Loki Max experience
As an owner of a Lokius, I'm very curious re: any difference in SQ between it and the Max. They cover the same frequency bands. Schiit talks about better quality parts in the Max, but I've yet to read a comparison on the basis of sound, rather tha...
Real or Surreal. Do you throw accuracy out the window for "better" sound?
@inna As for the concept of "good enough", it’s an interesting one. No system is good enough for me because it is still far from real. Problem is not only the system but the recordings, most of them. So I just do one or two significant upgrades...
Real or Surreal. Do you throw accuracy out the window for "better" sound?
@larsman I do know what sounds better to me. I do not know how true it is to what the artist, the producer, the mixer, and the mastering engineers laid down, as I was not there for any recording sessions so cannot make a comparison. +1 It i...

@pjw81563  RE: Chicago, have you heard Leonid and Friends?
Real or Surreal. Do you throw accuracy out the window for "better" sound?
@yesiam_a_pirate The inherent problem with the HiFi journey is that it’s build on dissatisfaction. Dissatisfaction/satisfaction is a choice -- you needn’t be dragged along on an unending path of unquenchable craving. It’s up to you to decide ...
Jazz for aficionados
@mahgister  I stumble on a "fusion" song i did not like much instead of jazz did you mean this? M. Brecker seems to have played on quite a few releases that were not mainstream, acoustic Jazz, so it's conceivable that a "greatest hits" collec...
Question: What are some of your best pieces of advise to someone new to the hobby?
@mmcgill829 1) what sort of music do they prefer ? 2) How "picky’ are their ears? 3) What are their expectations regarding how a system might enhance their enjoyment of said music? 4) Are these expectations realistic, given their room and how...
CD Transport
@bigkidz  For those who feel CD transports do not sound different, I invite you to our listening room where we have Audiomeca Mephisto II,  Metronome, Marantz, Cary, and a bunch of streamers to compare with your own ears. The crowd you're addres...
