VPI Prime Sig/Lyra Delos / Feedback ...help! Ralph@atmasphere or someone technical needs to chime on this one. Curious to read their take.
VPI Prime Sig/Lyra Delos / Feedback ...help! "guess it wouldn't hurt to pick up the Fatboy Gimbal & A/B.." I thought the gimbal was standard on Prime Signature? Guess not. My Lyra experiences were with the low tech uni pivot. Good luck finding what the culprit is.
VPI Prime Sig/Lyra Delos / Feedback ...help! "funny how VPI and also Lyra recommend this cartridge with the table and the arm I have" File this under "on paper it's not supposed to work, but it might" category. I've heard more than a few Lyra on VPI's, and they all seemed to sound good. ...
A Big Shout out to TAP Electronics Great to hear about another resource for competent repair. I'm in Long Beach-half hour away. Thanks for bringing attention to Tap Electronics.
Most impactful for playing soft Listening in Ultralinear is NO CO$T and should be used.how about headphones? The PL has a good headphone section. Longtime PL user here. KT 150's will give a more impactful sound, which might be noticed during low level listening. As mentioned-...

Humminguru record cleaner "I have enough invested in my record collection to justify a Degritter but I have yet to find compelling evidence that it does the job that much better than the HG to justify the price. With the $3K I’ve saved I buy better copies of favorite recor...
The $10,000 Question "Prima Luna Dialogue One amp." Why not spare yourself the audiophool neurosis and get a used Evo series integrated or Dialogue Premium pre/amp separates? No suggestion on speaker. Too many great choices. Longtime PL user here.
Technics SL-1200GAE or VPI HW-40 or …? The OP just got the THE BEST reference (billstevenson)for his query with the above response.
Technics SL-1200GAE or VPI HW-40 or …? I've seen used HW's for $10k, but you'll have to be on high alert for those deals. HW40 would be my choice as an overall package-performance/aesthetic. Technics better value? I use a VPI Classic and I like traditional look of the HW.
Signal tube versus power tube, sound impact? Likely only 1 preamp gain tube in each channel will make a noticeable SQ difference. Could be subtle or quite noticeable. If your amp accepts different model tubes-EL34 for example, it will be a noticeable move. YMMV, but typically enhanced m...
Upgrading from a VPI Aries 1- is it worth it? If you decide on a new arm, may as well get speed control taken care of also. Sota Total Eclipse more accurate than VPI ADS-if you don't already have it. https://sotaturntables.com/products/eclipse-package/
Finally...subwoofer that's aesthetically pleasing! "Gotta wonder how many units Sonus aspired to sell with that design x price point. What a world." Suprema is likely a "build to order" with a long lead time. Can't imagine a section of the warehouse filled with pallets ready to s...
Finally...subwoofer that's aesthetically pleasing! "Sadly in the press release you could see the scan speak sticker on that midrange" I would hope it is NOT an off the shelf model and at least a tweaked version?
Finally...subwoofer that's aesthetically pleasing! If someone has the dough for this type of extravagance, just commission Franco Serblin, the man behind SF and have him design a pair of your own Suprema's? For one thing, design a magnetic setup so as not to ruin the look with those cheap fast... |
