Best tonearm for London Reference Cartridge My London Reference is more or less welded to my SME V. An excellent cartridge, and a fine all-rounder. I have experimented quite a bit with the damping paddle on the SME V, and it seems to be true that the new design Londons don´t require that mu...
Is the Manley Steelhead still relevant? Yes, the Manley Steelhead is still relevant. I don´t see how you could do better for the money.A caveat: I believe that the earlier model had QC problems, but these seem to have been overcome.
Tonearm/Cartridge Combinations: What Do You Own (Or Have Owned) And Recommend? +1 for @mulveling FR 64 FX and stone-bodied Koetsu is pure magic. Not so sure about FR 64 S and Koetsu, though....
Digitizing Vinyl; Suggestions Please @1graber2 Re: Metric Halo ULN 8This might be a little OT here in the analog forum, but why don`t you simply buy the MH ULN 8 and sell your other stuff instead? The conversion is great, and I use mine as DAC/ADC/Pre, among other things. It has head...
Digitizing Vinyl; Suggestions Please @1graber2 1) I digitize my LPs through a Metric Halo ULN 8 pro soundcard at 24/96, and use Audacity as DAW.2) Workflow: I always clean my LPs before digitizing. IMO this is not optional, but an absolute necessity. After digitizing I usually normal...
Digitizing Vinyl; Suggestions Please A word of caution:Dgitizing vinyl takes waaay longer than you think. 300 LPs- lets say 45 minutes of music each- that´s 225 hours of music.A good estimate is that one hour of digitised vinyl takes two hours to get right. Even if you don´t do any d...

What is the best solid state amplifier you have ever heard? Conrad Johnson Premier 350 SA
Older Electronics - When to cut bait? Your thoughts? My personal experience is that CJ `s build quality is excellent, and their amps have a very long life. If anything, I would say that CJ equipment is harder on the tubes, with lower tubelife expectancy than many other brands.
Any experience with Tube rolling 6922 for Conrad Johnson preamp? AI second that. I haven`t tried the ET series preamps, but the ET 250 S has 2 driver 6922/6DJ8/Ecc 88 tubes. They wear out after about 1000 hours. That said, the best sound I have had was with a pair of Mullard Ecc 88s.
The Conrad Johnson Premier 350: Revisited @jafant I will be biamping my Overkill Encore speakers with two Premier 350s, one in champagne and one in black. As for the rest, you can find it on Audiogon`s Virtual Systems under "tkr`s digital system".
The Conrad Johnson Premier 350: Revisited ....And there came the answer from Conrad Johnson: Yes, a black faceplate was an option on the Premier 350. Almost unbelievable, but there you go!
The Conrad Johnson Premier 350: Revisited @unsound Thank you. I have sent a mail to Conrad Johnson to get your information confirmed, but no answer yet.....
The Conrad Johnson Premier 350: Revisited I`ll exhume this thread once more:I have been offered a Premier 350 at a reasonable price, but according to the seller, it has a black faceplate, not champagne. The seller tells me that it was possible to order this from Conrad Johnson. This was n...
Cartridge recommendations That`s a hard one, depending on your downstream equipment and personal taste. IMO, a wood-bodied Koetsu would be a safe bet. At the moment I have a London Decca Reference in my SME V, and it sounds great. But I don`t think that such a idiosyncrati... |
