Questions to ask as I shop for a tonearm?
Another Japanese arm to consider is the Fidelity Research FR 64 FX. On the heavy side, not really suitable for high-compliance carts, but a really great arm at the price.
The one component that you wish you had not bought
A Kondo Audio Note S7 stepup. Rare, good and now virtually useless. Bought a new RIAA with sufficient gain, so now the Kondo is simply sitting on a shelf, unused.
Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD
I think of the whole digital/analog thing as something of a race. In my own setup, digital will sometimes race ahead, but will fall back again after an improvement on the analog side. And so on.....IMO, digital can sound extremely good nowadays. A...
Tonearms: Ripoff?
Is shirtless typing a ripoff? I tried it this afternoon, and I didn´t notice any improvement in performance at all! No matter which shirt I wasn`t wearing, even expensive ones, nothing really happened. Just goes to prove, not wearing cheap shirts ...
Sweetvinyl Sugarcube - SC1 and SC2
If all you want to do is to rip LPs and declick the digital files, what is wrong with Audacity?
Counterfeit DL103?
How do you modify something like the DL 103, a LOMC giving around .25 mV output, into something which gives an output of +4 mV?
Counterfeit DL103?
No, both Denon DL110 and 160 have outputs around 1.5 mV, not more than 4 mV.

Difference in sound using different carts when digitizing vinyl record?
I have done this, and there are audible differences. I will try to upload some files to my dropbox-account later today. They will be 16/44.1 recordings, as there is no point in uploading 24/96-files if people  aren´t able to play them.
Difference in sound using different carts when digitizing vinyl record?
The answer to the OP´s question is yes, of course you will hear a difference if the two cartridges sound different. IMO you will hear a difference even when recorded at 16/44.1, and from my own experience you certainly hear it when recorded at 24/96.
How do you store and catalog your vinyl?
I store my LPs by genre (pop/rock, classical, C/W, jazz, compilations ) and then alphabetically. I also have a category "unclassified", where everything is placed before a listen-through and definitive classification.
Highest detail cartridges
A SoundSmith-modified Denon DL 103 R with saphire cantilever and fineline diamond tip.Great detail, great bass and more than passable soundstage.  It will set you back around $ 650.
Kondo Audio Note Io ii+ Kondo AN S 7 II - Keep it or sell it?
Thank you. I will mount the cartridge and try it out again before I decide, but you certainly have given me food for thought.
Kondo Audio Note Io ii+ Kondo AN S 7 II - Keep it or sell it?
Well, they are pretty rare, and prices are all over the place. That is part of the problem, there simply isn`t much information on the internet. As you say, probably quite desirable as a pair. The question is if they will appreciate in price and a...
Kondo Audio Note Io ii+ Kondo AN S 7 II - Keep it or sell it?
No. The Io ii is an old Japanese-made Kondo cartridge from the early eighties, and the S 7 is the matching SUT. I dont know how collectible these are, which is why I started this thread.
