Affordable vs. ultra expensive speakers - what's the difference? ghdprentise - Actually the air-cooled 911s sound very much like the old Beetles, and with good reason. Provenance. I actually enjoy figuring out and justifying each upgrade in my audio system. I could just spend a lot of money based on Agon com...
Eva Cassiday Blew Me Away with her cover of Wayfaring Stranger.... Whoa, she is good! many thanks for this thread. You might try Hans Theesink. Dutch, now based in Vienna. Does a great job with blues reinterpretation. Thanks again; I am very much enjoying Eva's music.
speaker upgrade The Falcon Acoustics LS3-5a has sensitivity of 83 dB and impedance of 15 ohms. Can I drive them with a CXA81?
speaker upgrade Avanti1960 - that was quite the glowing review of the Falcon LS3/5a. There is a silver badge pair on USAudiomart for $1400. Boy, it tempting. By the way, is the Avanti reference to the car? I used to own a '76. Beautiful!
speaker upgrade Shall do, thanks
speaker upgrade Many thanks to everyone for the advice. I think for the present I'll keep (and enjoy) the Jade 3s. And over the next couple of years I'll arrange to audition the Harbeths, but also Spendors, Tannoys, Fynes and ProAcs. No rush; its part of the f...
Do speaker wires have to be the same length for each speaker? If, like the OP, your amp is much closer to one speaker, and you elect to have equal length cables, then what is the best way to handle the excess cable going to the speaker nearest the amp?
Advice on DSP streamer Easter egg? Fuzziness, you comment is very helpful as I was afraid that there would be a degradation of SQ going from the Bluesound to the Studio. No brainer, then, unless the NAD M10 is much better than the Studio/Cambridge combination.
Advice on DSP streamer erik_squires - I spent several hours trying to learn about the Roon room correction feature. I came away thoroughly confused. Roon's website has next to nothing. On other sites it appears that you need to create filters with third-party softwar...
Advice on DSP streamer Sorry, I meant NAD 658 not 638
How do you enhance a bad listening room's accoustics without breaking the bank? thoughts? I'm a little surprised that no one has recommended DSP as a potential solution for the OP. There are several very good integrated amps with DSP built-in. That might help especially with bass management. In fact, even the low-end SVS subs now co...
WHAT SONG TOUCHES YOUR HEART THE MOST? I asked my wife and she said Psycho Killer by the Talking Heads. I think I'm in trouble.
System forclassical music JJSS49 - My friends may prefer new, but I personally would be very tempted by the Spendors and Hegel. I would probably still add a sub, though. Tempting.
System forclassical music Fredapplegate, no problem. The YouTube performance was beautiful, even on my IEMs. Maybe I should explore more classical...I don't think my friends want to replace their in-wall system with another in-wall system. My impression is that they ar...
System forclassical music Yes, I did mean Charpontier. As is obvious, I'm not a CM fan.I don't know the preferred source yet; I just assumed it would be streaming.I doubt that they want in--wall speakers in a new system. It just what they have now.I didn't know that SACD... |
