Which would you choose for good sounding tube preamp for an audiophile new to tubes.
In same scenario, I went with a Prima Luna Evo 400 integrated and have been 110% happy with that choice. But I think you are going to be thrilled with whatever you buy.  There are few wrong choices.
Unfinished basement listening room
Some of the best advice i got was to put my system in the basement. Love to hear about your unorthodox room treatments. I use Yogibo bean bags as my bass traps...
amp recommendation for Evoke 20s
I have evoke 50s with a Prima Luna 400 integrated.  I bought it new at a local dealer for well under the retail prices you see on the internet. I consider myself a realist audiophile.  I have heard some very expensive systems in perfectly set up ...
What Is So Special About Harbeth?
I spent a lot of time, with a lot of input here for a small office system. Need speakers to go an actual bookshelf.  Wanted warm and not fatiguing. Like others, thought the Harbeths were kind of ugly.  Especially the HL. Went with the P3 ESR.  ...
Efficient speaker: Zu, Tekton, Volti, Klipsch, Fleetwood?
Vladtheimapler I read a little book about you.  Are you a great Dad?

Closing this off in the event someone else reads it. The Harbeth P3ESR were a great choice.  They make me smile.  I find the vocal/midrange exceedling pleasant.  Bass at low-levels is warm - it fills the room  the way I wanted at day time listeni...
Science that explains why we hear differences in cables?
I asked God this same question yesterday.  we had a bad connection, cheap cables, so I couldn't fully hear the answer.

Appreciate the great input and advice.Pulled the trigger on the Harbeth P3ESR today - original version not XD.Considered the Spendor A1 very seriously but were a little harder to find the Classic in the US.On the waitlist for the Watkins Gen 4 and...

Speed metal and hard-core rap mostly.Just kidding. Wrong thread.Broad range of rock, some jazz, some jam bands, vocals etc.  At the office classical occasionally but really not the focus.

I got so intrigued by the Watkins that I just called. What a great guy. Waiting list a mile long and the same supply chain issues as the rest of the world. Not going to be the immediate answer but will absolutely give them a try when they become a...

Does Heavy Metal music benefit from a high end audio system?
I could not agree with Miller Carbon more (understanding there is a 50% chance you are being sardonic).I like metal but its not my every day go to. I listen to EVERYTHING.I have bought, borrowed, or stole +/- 50 vinyl albums in the past 12 months ...
HiFi vs MidFi
I consider my room Mid-Fi and you wouldn't insult me by saying that.I was able to piece together a listening room for ~$12k (PL Evo 400, Rega P6, Dynaudio Evoke 50s, Meridan DAC, Cambridge Audio Duo phono etc.). It mesmerized me when I dropped the...
First tube preamp recommendations (under $5k)
I went through this exercise.  Considered all options with budget being secondary.  Ended up going Prima Luna Evo 400 integrated and got it well under 5k.I have nothing but good things to say about this.  I have relatively inefficient speakers (Dy...
