Would you buy a tube amp if you were unable to use vintage tubes in it ?
Well, contrary to what others have posted, I understand that many phono stage manufacturers ship their units with crappy stock tubes. The reason? They know that tube sound and quality is relatively subjective, that people pay top $ for some tubes ...
Matching a amplifier to speakers
For what it is worth: My Futtermans are notoriously fussy about load. Since I am married to the Futtermans, speaker choice comes second: find a pair that matches up to the Futtermans.  Except that I already owned the Altec 694Cs.  Which, coinci...
Vinyl Care
I clean as little as possible.  Pull them out of the sleeve, play, put them right back in. Keep them clean in the first place.  When that fails, I use the basic VPI. I bought mine decades ago now for $300 or so.
Develop a hierarchy for phono playback
SWS applies.  synergy-weakest link-subjectivity.  If I had to pick one: the cartridge. It touches the groove. You need to preserve your collection.  There will be no consensus.
Throwing 2 High End brands together will not automatically equal success. Thoughts?
Not untrue.
I bought 4 subwoofers and I'm absolutely not doing a DBA! Hah!
You probably know this but just in case and just a suggestion: check with the driver manufacturer’s specs on the cabinet’s internal volume?
What are the most balanced relatively neutral cartridges at each price level ?
At level 2, $1-3K, I have a Koetsu At level 4, $5K+, I have a Koetsu Onyx and a Koetsu Leopard.    Koetsu is not known for its neutrality, but of the three, the Leopard is most neutral.
There is no substitute for cubic inch or in this case surface area
My main towers are 15” Altec 604C coaxial.  My sub is the floor firing 15” Velodyne.  Imho in order to project authority, you need to move a lot of air.
"audiophiles listen to their equipment"
@stuartk  no worries.
"audiophiles listen to their equipment"
@stuartk  ”psychoacoustical experience of a tri-tone interval has little to do with sonics.” If the system is incapable of reproducing it, then you are correct: there will be none to be heard.  As I have said elsewhere, audio is not an end in i...
The Sacred Ritual of Vinyl: A Return to Mindful Listening
@facten    never mind 🙄
Have you reached your end point with this addictive hobby?
I have essentially the same system today that I did when I was 14, but upgraded.  I just finished what I think will be my final round of upgrades/repairs. They happen every 15 years or so.  I’m 70 years old.    see the bottom of  theaudioatticv...

The Sacred Ritual of Vinyl: A Return to Mindful Listening
@yesiam_a_pirate  If you feel you need to. But it’s not necessary. $50K is what my entire system costs and it has stunned all but 1* of my 39 visitors this year.    See theaudioatticvinylsundays.com/about   * and he is a notoriously crabby ro...
