Duke,Your response is one of the best I have read in a while.
great integ amp for VA Haydn Grand's??
I listened to the Haydn Grands at a dealer with the recently released Musical Fidelity a3.5 integrated and a3.5 cd player. It sounded like a fine match.
Clever Little Clock - high-end audio insanity?
If only Rod Serling were still alive.
Totem Rainmaker distortion??
Talk with the manufacturer first. If they suggest removing the driver, get the name of the person you talk to. It doesn't hurt to cover your bases.
choice VA Haydn Grand or Dynaudio Focus 110??
I was in a very similar situation to yours recently. I have Musical Fidelity a3.2 integrated and a3.2 cd player. I was looking for a speaker upgrade. I first listened to the VA Haydn Grands. I then listened to the Dynaudio Focus line. The Haydn's ...
Clever Little Clock - high-end audio insanity?
This talk of time travel reminds me of a limerick:There once was a woman named BrightWho could travel far faster then light. She took off one day in a relative wayAnd returned on the previous night.
Monitors secure on stands
I called our local Lowe's and craft/ art stores and none have Blue Tack. They have other brands of what sounds like the same type of material. Sound okay?

Take a look at Dynaudio's Focus line.
Vienna Acoustics Haydn Grand?

The subjectivity of speaker quality
MIC-KEY, MOUSEAnybody have a pair of ears around from the sixties?
Vienna Acoustics New Line
I listened to the Haydn's last Fall and I think they are a very good sounding speaker. I am using a pair of Paradigm Studio 40 v.3's with Musical Fidelity a3.2 integrated amp and a3.2 cd player. I was thinking to replace the Paradigm's with the Ha...
Cassette Tapes..Dolby B or C?
It has been my experience that using Dolby B or C takes more than noise away. It also dulls the overall sound. If you listen at higher volumes the Dolby helps to remove the hiss. But you mentioned "quiet background music". If listening to lower vo...
The Most Beautiful Song of The RnR era?
I would not call it the "most beautiful song of the RnR era" but the running list ought to include "Killing Me Softly" by Roberta Flack.
Low cost bedroom speakers
Another recommendation for the Dynaudio Audience 42's. I don't know how big your bedroom is but my NAD 320bee (50W) does just fine with my 42's in my bedroom.
NAD 314 vs. C320BEE
I would second Rich's response. I too have the c320bee in a second system and the MF a3.2 in my main system. The difference is profound. The MF is well worth the difference in price you would pay for a used one.
