Acoustic treatment
Geoffkait I would like to understand the bowl resonator you mentioned. I don’t mean to derail this discussion but if you could post a link to what you refer to I would investigate further. Are they examples I can research? Thanks-mike.
How come Horn + woofer designs are not more popular?
Poorly designed horns sound shouty. Many good horns do as well until you add some damping material to them. I can’t understand why manufacturers don’t do this. I have designed and modified many speakers over the last 40 years. Every speaker design...
Anyone remember Marcof Electronics and the cables they made?
I did speak with Ed-thanks to you. I have type 1 and 2s. Never used the SE.
Do audiophiles hate large subwoofers?
I think you’re original question about large subs can also be about visual integration and optimal placement. The bigger the box the more visually dominant it is in your room. That’s not always attractive.  They are also harder to place. Any sub s...
Super tweeters, are they worthwile?
I have used Heil AMTs as super tweeters with good results on several sets of speakers over the years.  With some speakers they don’t seem to make an improvement.   But I built my own crossover and you are looking for something turnkey. I hope you ...
What’s the Right Power Amp Ratio For Bi-Amping?
It doesn’t sound like you are getting advice from anyone who has tried bi- amping. I have. First-You just need to try it and see if it sounds good to you. No rules will help guide you in my opinion.  I use two Bedini class A amps to bi-amp. The 25...
Vibratory or Not?
Advertising disguised as discussion. This is marketing. Why can’t the moderators stop this.
Why the facination with integrated amps?
I’m finding this discussion interesting and valuable. Integrates vs separates is something I’m contemplating as I think about replacing my entire rig. Maybe it’s time to stop buying all separate equipment like amps, preamp, phono stage, dac, trans...
Ed Martin: Marcof
Tim, thanks for the connection. I spoke to Ed last night. What a great conversation! And I completely agree with your comments above. Mike
Ed Martin: Marcof
I was only at his house once in the 80s. Couldn't even tell you the neighborhood.  I used to go to the store frequently. I bought a lot of their stuff. But I learned a ton from Ed too and that was more valuable to me.
Talk but not walk?
geoffkait, what's inside the Mpingo?  I don't recall it being said that there was anything inside. I can't find a reference to that on the web. I remember the stir these things caused in the 90's. Its kind of like the current tuning discussion.

Thanks all- I will contact Brooks in CA. Any details on contacting Will Vincent? Maybe he is closer to me in St. Louis.
Pros and cons of leaving your DAC on 24/7
I'm very pleased with the V90. I bought it as an experiment. I was just going to upgrade my CD player. But I realized I had other digital sources that all would benefit from a DAC. I would just use my CD as a transport.  I didn't know what to buy ...
Pros and cons of leaving your DAC on 24/7
I do hate the wasted energy that is caused by leaving my equipment on. But as I stated in my OP, waiting for components to warm up is a problem for me. Some nights I may only have an hour or two where I can listen to music after work. Losing part ...
Pros and cons of leaving your DAC on 24/7
Thanks for the feedback. I leave my vintage SS preamp and amp on all the time. But the DAC is newer technology and I didn't know if that made a difference.
