TWL mod for Rega RB600 arm---help needed
I have approx. 6,000 vinyl LPs and have been collecting for years, so having a high quality analog front end has become *very* important to me. I don't even have a digital front end source currently and frankly I don't miss having one, I have enou...
TWL mod for Rega RB600 arm---help needed
Thanks for your reply Doug---so *that's* the paperclip VTF tweak, very cool---I guess I would have figured that out if I had read up some more on that tweak, which I have not so far, but apparently there's not much to it! I'll have do that tweak o...
TWL mod for Rega RB600 arm---help needed
Hi Joe---thanks for your response---great pic of your TWL mod; I think I may have purchased weights that are less than ideal for my situation, the ones you are using seem to be wider (and shorter) than the ones I got. Mine are 3/8" at the base (pr...
Can anyone recommend a Phono Pre Amp?
I second the Heed Quasar. I'm using one right now with my Rega P25 / Dynavector 17D3. Excellent phono stage, easily competes with everything at $1,000 and under and some in the know say to units costing twice that much. Got mine for $680 here on A...

Actually, the 22 degrees on that page refers to VTA. A few paragraphs down he talks about an ideal SRA being at 1 degree from vertical, but then if you click on his "PS" follow-up at the bottom he corrects his mistake and states that the ideal SRA...
Step-up transformer for Dynavector 17D3?
Hi Goheelz---I really like the Heed Quasar, it's a good match with the 17D3 cart; it's neutral, fast, and detailed, with great extension at both ends and plenty of soundstaging and "air". It has plenty of gain for low-output MCs. It has an outboar...

best tubes for VTL,5.5 preamp.
Hi---I'm using a VTL 2.5 preamp with a pair of NOS RCA 5814 triple-mica 12au7 gives me a full but still detailed sound with a bit of warmth, I love them. What tubes do you have in your VTL 5.5 now?
Dynavector Karat 17D3---minimum gain needed?
Thanks for the responses everyone! In my original posting I made an inaccurate statement about 47dB being a standard fixed gain on many phono preamps; I realized afterward that the 47 figure actually applies to the 47 ohm impedence common to many ...
VTL TL2.5---factory installed tubes?
Hi again---my TL2.5 is indeed an older version with the 6350 tubes. I was told by the seller that in his experience tube rolling the 6350's didn't seem to make much difference, it was the 12AU7's that really benefitted from tube rolling. And by th...
