ANK L5 Mentor Preamp Kit.

I built an L5 Mentor and it's a nice project for a DIYer. I put Sophia rectifiers in it as the stock rectifiers were microphonic. The preamp sounds every bit as good as others I have had in my system that cost more. I'm actually getting ready to list it as I've downsized. The L5 is a pretty sizable unit and space is at a premium in my system these days.

Has anyone built a Mentor pre?  I have the EL34 amp and Dac 5.1, so very much in the franchise. would appreciate anyone with experience with the mentor pre.

Not sure why anyone would want warm or analytical in a properly designed stereo system. If you mean by musical, tonal purity, effortless dynamics and presence then this DAC is spot on.

@vinylvalet  Is your ANK DAC smooth, warm, musical or more analytical ?

I love the 2.1 dac that I built, vinylvalet is correct on checking the parts inventory. I had to go back to Brian a few times for additional parts.

I'm planning on building one soon. Based on the sound quality off the ANK 4.1x DAC that I recently built, I expect great things.

No one talks about the L5 Mentor because there aren't any reviews.
