Wrensilva makes some nice looking classic but modern consoles. https://wrensilva.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIn_SWjIms5QIVlBx9Ch1gKgQ0EAAYASAAEgK0ZPD_BwE |
I have a early 1960’s Phillips console that my mom and dad kept in the living room. Sliding doors concealed the am/fm tuner and sliding turntable. All tube with 20watt speakers with tweed speaker grills. I have not upgraded the components yet. It still works! May not ever. It is such a great conversation piece. Fond memories of my dad putting Guy Lombardo, Dick Hyman, Enoch Light, 101 Strings or Frank Sinatra on after mass on Sunday. |
This is a link to some of the old advertising for console stereos. Did KLH make a console?....I know they made very good compact systems https://www.google.com/search?sxsrf=ACYBGNRywhcpS0uBjvZfnHpVrFTOOgSYdQ:1571687527810&q=console+stereo+advertising&tbm=isch&source=univ&sxsrf=ACYBGNRywhcpS0uBjvZfnHpVrFTOOgSYdQ:1571687527810&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiizqumkK7lAhVEhq0KHaSNCvYQsAR6BAgHEAE&biw=1152&bih=763 |

Must admit……do not get any of this. So you want speakers firing at my knees? And the drivers suffering suffocating boxitis? They sound seriously confined. Only commenting on sound reproduction, not the desire to live retro cool mid-century. l’m a boomer, so I already suffered through the Zenith console TV in the center built-in dreck. But, by all means charge forward if it’s your thang.
