Best Shunyata Power Cord for.,,
not that familiar with current or past product lines. looking for opinions as to their best HC cords that are pure and not for softening. To be used on an AQ Niagara 7000 and Agostino amp. The latest AQ cords way to stiff. I don’t want the crazy priced cords like Sigma etc. The new Alpha NR( list $1500) a good candidate or would an older model be better? Really would appreciate hearing from long term Shunyata guys.

Within the last week, I saw about 5 Alpha HC’s for sale. They sell quick, but not rare really. This model sold well for Shunyata, since you are able to use it on any component. Certain cords like the King Cobra CX are much harder to find. So now the newer NR series is sorta like the Alpha HC , you can use it on any component without any drawbacks. |
4425, You have Niagra 7000 which is great and your amp is one of the best. As you know, the cord to connect the power conditioner to the wall ac is very important for your hi level equipment. to get the best sound possible. I have denali 6000T, and I tired Alpha HC, Alpha NR on it but until I got the Sigma HC I did not hear full potential of my denali and gear connected to it (gryphon diablo 300). Try to find a used sigma HC or new NR for a great price you will not regret it. You can pm me for a great shunyata dealer that is also AQ dealer. |
A new Delta NR is working great on my CD player. After swapping a Venom HC for the Delta NR, there was a noticeable reduction in digital etch. However, when I tried the Delta NR from the wall to my Audioquest Niagara 1000, I could not hear any difference whatsoever versus a Venom HC. If you believe that experiments on the lower end of a brand's line scale up, then the Alpha NR is probably suboptimal for a Niagara 7000. If it were me and I owned a 7000, I would find a way to get the Sigma NR, preferably with a money back guarantee. You might find that a lowly Venom HC is enough to the power conditioner because the 7000 does so much of the system's work. |
This thread is costing me serious money. Got a taste of what the Alpha Ztron digital sounds like on my system. I should’ve jumped on those Alpha HCs for sale last week but I snoozed :(. Now I’m thinking about Alpha NRs since the HCs are gonna be hard to find. Ughh... Anyone with any opinions on the Deltas compared to the previous line? |
Supposedly no break-in is needed on the new NR PCs. Needed around 50-75 hrs for the 2 HCs to settle in my system. You’re correct about the refined sound with the Shunyatas, I’m pretty happy with them now. I’m currently looking for a 1.25m HC so I can try the Alpha digital on my pre/ pro. I suppose we are all a little nuts. :) |
" 4425 OP "Just got them but no doubt they present a refined sound with a little too much bass at first but I expect that to change. Being a little(?) flaky I purchased an AQ Hurricane thinking it was just a must for the AQ 7000 conditioner. Therefore the Alpha NR 20 amp is for sale. Brand new." 4425, did you end up keeping the Hurricane power cord ? What did you use from the AQ 7000 to your amps ? |
