Replace all the capacitors in the power supply section and see if you can match them with Nichicon and Audio Note.
Capacitors for Linn Linto phono stage Recap

I’m considering a Recap for my Linn Linto phono stage.
Attached is a screenshot of the main PCB.
1. Other than the 14 Capacitors in the attached picture, are there any other Capacitors that need changing ?
2. I read in the various forums, various preferences of Capacitors types that are worthy. Is it that different types are good for different phono stages ?
Which brand/type regardless of budget will give the best performance ?
3. Which internet shop is reliable and sells only original parts ?

I think the yellow one is a varistor and the black one is a thermistor. If not defective, leave it as it is.
These are poly caps and will not degraded over time, if not defective, leave it as it is.
These two are 2.2uF 50V smd electrolytic caps.
Those are 22uF 50V smd electrolytic caps. 🤞 |

I think it's better to address the power supply issue first. If you suspect the thermistor causing the problem, install a new one and test if the problem goes away, then go recap the power supply. If everything goes well, then go ahead to recap the phono board.
Totally agree! Measure the size and lead spacing of the existing caps, then choose the longest life with highest temperature rating. A capacitor with service life of 3000hrs@105°C is equal to 12000hrs@85°C. For those smd electrolytic caps, tantalum capacitor is better if money is no object.

As for Tantalum SMD caps, they only come in box shape and I wasn’t able to find them in the cylinder shape I need. |
You did a great job for the capacitors selection! 👍👍 Some suggestions: IMO, if you want those radial capacitors sat nicely on the PCB, lead spacing is important, and its diameter as well. Newer capacitors for the same rating tend to be smaller, you can choose higher voltage rating capacitors to match the existing space. For surface mount capacitors, "land space" is very important! Please measure the existing space to ensure the replacements can sat and soldered properly. The caps arrived. Replacing the regular ones (even though they need double sided sodering) went smooth. The SMD caps are a nightmare to remove. I removed 4 and 2 of them cracked the pcb lines and I had to connect the caps with wires., No matter how gentle I am its a nightmare. The PCB is so delicate... |
