Well, if you have to ask then no.
Not into politics, klicks, or audio snobbery.
Dallas (Fort Worth) Audiophile Club - we meet every month or every other month
@joey_v I understand and I would not let you near my home without vetting you either. I also do not need to talk every day for sure. Good luck to you and your click. |
Hi All, I'm a Dallas semi-audiophile- Certainly not a purist, but do appreciate upgraded sound over mass market. For years, I've been running my B&W 683's off an old Denon AVR (2310)... I'm music 70%, TV/movies 30%... Music typically listened to on vinyl or higher-quality digital played over wifi via Chromecast audio. It's time to upgrade my music listening experience... I'm thinking a decent stereo amp + an upgraded receiver should get me where I want to go... But I need some help. Would anyone be open to a quick consulting gig to help me out? I would go into an audio store with this ask but don't want to be "sold" anything... Really looking for more budget, even used equipment... Thought I'd reach out to some local experts. Thanks!! Daniel |
👍 much appreciated. Probably try make an appointment for a couple weeks and @joey_v will let you know. thanks |
Didn't know it's been almost 6 months since the last post. A audiophile just reached out to me so it reminded me of this thread.
The club is still going strong, actually it's bigger and more eventful than before.
We are at about 100, with about 50 who are very active.

If you haven’t already done so, go visit SouthWest Audio Fest tomorrow! Show your support so that organizers bring it back next year! Lots of major high end brands are present and some are in very generously sized and well setup rooms. It will be a great way to spend your Sunday amongst some of the best audio equipment out there and you don’t even need to get on a plane! |
It was awesome meeting all of you. We don’t have a tight audiophile community in South Florida. You all have a great thing going but the most important thing are the people that make up your group. I loved meeting each and everyone of you. Big amps, big speakers, big trucks are all things I am attracted to and the lonestar state is also a big space that can really help take my business to the next level. |
I would like to attend one of your meetings. My brother-in-law passed away in May. I’m trying to help my sister-in-law dispose of his collection of audio equipment. He was a serious hoarder. For example, he has around 12 McIntosh tube amplifiers in his basement on a rack. He probably has between 500 K and $1 million worth of stereo equipment in various rooms in his house and his basement. Would like some advice on how to go about selling it. I would post some pictures if I knew how to on this forum. |
@joey_v i missed daughter had a birthday party. |
Hello everyone, My name is Steve Carstensen, and I volunteer to coordinate volunteers at Southwest Audio Fest in March. I help Lou and Gary by organizing who wants to be there to check in attendees, put up signs, and general gopher tasks. For taking a shift or two of greeting nice people, you get a pass to the SAF. With an event name badge, the vendors talk differently to you, also. If the DFWAC is our main volunteer provider, we will be happy to have a table for you to advertise your club, pass out contact info, etc. Win-Win. Please send me an email at SWCatHome@gmail.com if you're interested in volunteering. |
We volunteered last year. I’m sure we can have some volunteers sign up this year as well. Have Gary email me, he has my contact. We were promised a table for this year because we did not utilize it last year. Thx Steve. Last year there were staff shirts, do you know if that’s available as well for volunteers this year? |
@joey_v ginna try to make meet 52. Just need to know where. |
