Experience with stacked subwoofers?

@m-db The manufacturer manual has them noted to reach down to 12Hz, I let them go as low as they want and they cut off around 80Hz. To answer placement these towers are right next to the main speakers about 5ft and 7ft off back wall respectively (its sloped) and off the side walls 3ft and 4ft on either side. The SVS SB 16 subwoofers are not symmetrical across from each other set mid-wall, one firing perpendicular to the mains, and the other is a a 45 degree angle towards the mains. Do not put them in corners, you’ll create crazy room modes. On a good movie I’ll get guests to literally jump off the couch due to the excellent low frequency response, it will cause large water ripples in a cup and make your stomach flip. Lol

I think I've seen that 12Hz figure somewhere. I was trying to get an idea of their output level at their claimed low frequency.

By example SVS claims your SB-16's -3dB@16Hz, while Audioholics measured them a very close -3dB@18Hz outdoors. 

Regardless, the description and your satisfaction of your systems low frequency performance must be stunning. Enjoy.

I guess all the marketing hype was true. A Rel 6 pack adds so much extra air that you end up with a bigger listening room ;-)

No, I just have a four-pack setup so far. I'm buying my dealers last demo pair, but the amp packs are at REL for repair.

may i please inquire do subs present realistic output wrt classical  symphonic music or do they merely pack a pleasurable wallop . according to INTERNET the low frequency output of symphonic instruments do not extend very low . incidentally the dealer who sold me Jadis Orchestra Black recommended a pair of ATOHM RAFALE VR1-X a sub i have seen little mention of .

We have stacked pairs running in stereo of REL S812, Carbon Specials, and 212/SX.   In each instance space constraints caused us to stack.   When properly placed and dialed-in, stacked subs are terrific --  albeit I only have stacking experience with REL.   And with REL's direct-to-amp wiring, I won't be using any other manufacturer's subs any time soon.   Had other manufactures subs before REL, but there's no context.  For not huge $$, Carbon Special has to be one of the best sounding subs out there, at any price point.   (Note, I have not heard the Nos. 31 or 32).    

@emergingsoul    Sorry to pile on, but your take on subs is 15 years behind the times.   Speakers in our main system are Tannoy Kingdom Royal, which include a 15-inch sub driver.   Addition of a pair of Carbon Specials brought new dimension to the entire music spectrum.   IMHO, no system, none, is complete without a pair of top quality subs.  It's not just about the bass.  Its about the entire presentation, from top to bottom.
