I ended up purchasing the PRO version. I can't think of going back to listening to my music without it.So early November I had downloaded the free version. On the first try it seemed to clean up the playback and bring out the details. But I ignored it since I assumed it was just in my head and not something that the software actually did. So it became a habit that before starting Foobar2000, I clicked the free Fidelizer which started the Foobar2000. I do this and leave the system on for 30 mins so that the tubes get a warm up time.Last week I sat down and for some reason something did not sound right. Yeah, the system was alright, but the clarity and presence was MIA. So was the tight bass and imaging. Could not figure it out, since (I thought) I had done my usual routine. After a few minutes, I checked the Task Manager in Windows and realized that I had forgotten to start the Fidelizer. So I shutdown the Foobar200 and started the Fidelizer. Once that process kicked in, it started the Foobar2000 and man....I was back in business. Yeah, I wasted a solid month assuming that the "Fidelizer effect" was just in my mind. So after wasting a month, it took me 10 seconds and I ordered the PRO version. Now this PRO version is something else. It takes up the free Fidelizer up a couple of level and I am thrilled with the results. As a note I had upgraded from a vintage Asus K52 to a couple of years old Asus S400CA before I started playing with the Fidelizer. Yet the improvements in my system were so substantial, that I felt it was worth the asking price.
I encourage Windows users to try the free version. You have nothing to loose. If it does not work for you, simply delete the .exe file and move on. Not a penny lost.
