Hot Schiit for Bifrost listener

Hi. I have a new Schiit Bifrost 2 it runs quite warm to the touch. Much warmer to the Rag 2. Is this normal?
I have a Denefrips Ares II and a SMSL M400 Dac here and thy run dead cool.
Is this normal for a Bifrost?
Thanks in advance.

Thank you, @! Yes, considering an upgrade to a Yggdrasil GS, Denafrips Pontus, Holo Spring DAC. Looking for better room decay, separation of instruments, and definition of vocals (classical).

Don't know if this helps, but I have the original Bifrost MB, and it's warm as in slightly above room temp.

@paulburnett

my 2 cent

bifrost multibit and ares ii have quite similar sq characteristic - round, full, lots of body and foundation to the sound, bloomy as some would describe

ares a little more open on top, a little sharper w transients, a little more forward in center image

weakness of both, relative to better dacs (to my ears, in my system) is both have issues with sibilance on vocals...

I picked up a Bifrost 2 about a week ago and have left it on since I got it. I don't think it's even warm, let alone hot.
Care to compare the Ares II to the Bifrost 2, I mean, leaving aside the heat issue?

Thank you,

Paul
I had to send my Bifrost 2 back for service
i kept it powered on it gets quite warm.
2 weeks ago it quit working no power.
I tried different power cable nothing.
So I sent it back Schiit for service or replacement.
I owned the Bifrost Multibit, and I can't say it ran hot.
When in doubt, contact the manufacturer directly.
Schiit is very good at communicating.

FWIW, I own an Ayre Codex. It runs pretty hot, but Ayre says not to worry and to leave it on 24 hours/365.
And, like any good company, they repair their equipment for a minimal charge. Schiit is the same.
