I didn't want to highjack anyone else Garrard 301 threads, so starting this new one to ask a straightforward question: I'm trying to remove my new-to-me 301 from a console it was originally installed in. I -- obviously -- removed the mounting screws and nuts, but when I try to lift it out, it won't budge. I don't want to pry it or do anything that might damage it (fortunately, it's in perfect cosmetic condition!)
Is there some secret I'm not aware of? Something else that would be holding it to the board?
FWIW: When I removed the nuts from the underside, the washers stayed firmly in place against the underside of the board. Might they somehow be attached upward to the turntable (like -- they could be a collar of some sort)?
While I have the attention of 301 owners: Just how silent should the table be when it's in operation? I have a slight whirring sound that I can hear when standing close to the table. I've cleaned and oiled the idler bearings, oiled the motor, the spindle and felt spindle pad. The motor and idler wheel spin very freely and quietly when I spin them. (I'm going to have the table serviced at a later date before installing it into a nice plinth, but for now, I just want to try whatever I can do on my own to get it running quietly.)
Thanks!!
