Price considerations will help narrow your choices. Room acoustics, musical preferences and source components will also help, but a few to look at that I happen to like: YBA Integra DT (~1200), Musical Fidelity X150 (~800), Linn (Majik~500, or Classik~750) in the solid state ranks. For tubed, I like the Jadis Orchestra Reference (~1400) but will be a problem biasing the output tubes when necessary, and I wouldn't recommend it if you are new to tubes. Others may chime in.
