Marantz PM Ki Ruby and RME ADI 2 (Am I crazy?)

Hey guys,
My setup is node 2i > rme adi 2 dac > pm ki ruby > dynaudio special 40s.

All this while I’ve been using the RME as a dac and the marantz as pre and power.

while browsing some random stuff, I realised that the rme could also be used as a pre and the marantz just as a power amp.

And of course, I tried.  But am I crazy to think that my system sounds better? The soundstage has widened , better imaging and overall improved sonics. Is this even possible or just my mind playing tricks?
Please help, I’m losing it!! Lol

@mofojo thank you. Don’t think I’ve ever used the loudness feature. I’m going to go through the rme encyclopaedia (user manual) and play around with it.
There are some really good YouTube videos of the RME functionality. I was able to grasp that easier than the manual. Not too bad once you start messing with it.
I run my RME ADI 2fs DAC direct to my Pass and am really mixed whether I prefer going direct or through my Modwright LS36.5 preamp or not. Without the Teddy Pardo power supply I definitely prefer going through my preamp. With the Teddy however it is damn good going direct. I’m also using an SR Orange on the Teddy, Nordost Frey 2 balance and WyWires Juice II Digital PC which definitely brings some magic of its own. My guess is you’re using the stock switch power supply with the stock power cord. Throw a Linear PS and a better PC and you’ll be amazed how much the RME improves. Much fuller sound, and not at all analytical as some say. The RME is really good on its own, but you’re only touching what it’s capable of.
