Good question. I have an MA8900 and was wondering if there was a third-party alternative to the pre/amp jumpers. Curious to try and see if something like an Audioquest RCA jumper would make a difference.
McIntosh Jumper Plugs alternative
Hi there -
Like a lot of us out there, I’ve always wanted a McIntosh amp and yesterday that long dream finally came true!
A new MA5200 showed up on the doorstep yesterday to drive my dads old ProAc D25s and like a kid on Christmas I couldn’t wait to get started. Getting everything setup and wired I fire up the turntable and there’s no audio in the left channel... I double and triple check that all my wiring was correct and I couldn’t figure out why.
With a fresh mind and a fresh set of eyes I check it again today and there it is... I’m missing one of the two jumper plugs!! No wonder there’s no audio...
Ive contacted the dealer to get an extra plug but wanted to see check if there’s another solution?
Could I just get two short male/male RCA cables or would that not be “safe” or suggested? I’m probably extra sensitive and mindful considering this is my first Mc!
Any thoughts or insights would be much appreciated!
