Media cabinets like BDI but not as expensive

I love BDI cabinets but they're very expensive.  Are there any good alternatives?

I especially like how they pay close attention to depth giving components/wires plenty of room and incorporating wire management in the rear.

The best feature is the perforated doors to allow remote signals to pass through.

Any other good brands?

A good cabinet will cost a fair amount no matter how much you don’t want it to.

You can see the BDI design I chose for my mountain home in my systems page.  I recall paying around 1100.00 for it.  I purchased it with other furniture so I got a decent discount.
In my secondary system, I had a local cabinet maker build a unit to my specification.  It also has glass doors and adjustable shelves.  The center cubby came with a cloth grille that I decided not to use because the subwoofer likes to sit slightly forward.  I recall that came in around 850.00.

The BDI design has some good features like the ventilated shelves, detachable back panels, and castors which facilitate access to the back side of the components.

I have always found that trying to “cheap out” never satisfies over time.  Hope this helps.
thanks rhljazz  -  very nice systems!

I agree that trying to cheap out on this usually ends in disappointment and eventually forking out the $ for what I really want in the end anyway.  I was just wondering/hoping there was something I was missing.

But Studiotech and Salamander Designs do seem to have some strong offerings.  Nothing quite as cool as BDI's perforated doors though..  They look so good and function/build quality seem top notch.
Check Craigslist....  when people move there's some things they can't take with.   I got lucky last year and bought a mint BDI unit that was $900 new for $125.....
