Miracles in Audio, by luck, by good choices,by design or by tweaking...

I owned a low cost headphone for many years, the Fostex TH7B, first version( a new one close version exist Fostex TH7BK), semi-open headphone...I was never completely satisfied by any headphones I ever owned: Hifiman 400, Stax basic lamda, Stax 5 gold,Akg 340,Akg 701, beyerdynamic 990, and T150... Because in each of them with all their qualities I never listen to at the same times, a confortable headphone with natural timbre and voicing, with a good imaging and a realistic soundstage(not too close to my ears)...


For the last days I tweaked this Fostex, to damp his internal resonance I used sorbothane, I put some shungite stones at the exterior part of the cups and I use some Herkimer diamond in the interior pads( 3 at 120 degree) … Now this low cost headphones crush all my others if I sum all his qualities... For example his mids and voicing cannot beat the AKG 340 but among all my other headphones it is the best that is near that mids and it is more confortable, and with longer cable than the 340...His imaging is better and more realistic than the 340 etc etc...It is the same if I compare with the others...


His most important qualities is natural timbre and clear imaging,very precise pinned point accuracy and natural, so clear it crush for that ALL the others to dust...In the French audio circle the reviews were more than very positive few years ago...Diapason d’or and choc Classica...I am not the only one impressed buy the ratio quality/price... But remember that thesae reviewers dont tweak their headphone...The difference between before and after the tweaks are staggering...


Yes Miracles happens in Audio: cost is under 100 American dollars... Few years ago they cost me 50 bucks new... I never dreamed that I will go back to headphones...

During the last 2 hours after headphone use now I had listen in nearfield listening and at normal distance from the speakers... And like with the headphone listening before, in these 2 positions the imaging and clarity is increased much by these addition of only 2 connections today from one of the S.G to the center of a grid of stones located on top of a concrete plate which is itself on top of my amplifier...I had on the amplifier many stones already linked by cables to the rest of the grid...

The conclusion of my last 2 posts is right: the stones enhanced by the S.G. are filtering the interactive E.M. fields of the audio system, then lowering the noise level...I dont have any other explanation... One thing is certain no company actually use a grid of stones activated by linked batteries and enhanced by many Schuman generators(S.G.)

I remember one day, one year ago a guy, Bybee,reading about him, i bought by curiosity a plate make with a kind of resin and containing unknown crystals that enhance the gear where I put it... The effect was audible yes, but relatively small... That pick my curiosity...It is one of the company with Acoustic Revive, Stein Harmonizer, and some others I forget the name that cause me to go on a search by myself about crystals use in audio...The result is my powered grid...


I hope my saying and experiments will be useful to someone...It is free and I dont sell anything...My best to all...

I forget to say 2 things...

One week ago I was in the obligation for a reparation to dismantle half of my stones grid, guess what? The sound was audibly degraded after that, before reinstauring the stones in the actual grid...


Another important remark: when I installed the Schuman generators, without cabled links to the stones grid, and without stones and crystals on them, under them and near them, the results in the room were an improvement that was audible, BUT nowhere near the improvement I gained with the stones and crystals and the bond with the grid...

Like Shungite the use of lava beads in audio is delicate operation... They can easily degrade the sound near some gear...But on the central electrical panel of my house with the shungite they works miracles...
I would never have considered such a change after all that happened in the last month in my audio system, in the speakers or headphone alike...

The lava beads(4mm) taped on the panel has transformed the sound at another level...The effect is so greatly audible that it is comparable to an upgrade of strong impact...The clarity is now off the old chart, in my headphone or in my speakers...I am happy... I will be more happy if someone benefit from my experiments...My best to all...

I will add my audio miracle. I use a damping material I bought from Marcof Electronics many years ago. I was told it was made from a mixture of butyl rubber and crushed limestone. It’s still soft after decades. I use it for all types of damping. But applied to the back of horns and their drivers, the results are amazing. That edge people don’t like about horns is completely gone. The problem is I’m almost out. I’m trying to get Ed Martin to dig up the cases of it he thinks are stashed away.
