New Cure Release

So, the long-awaited Cure album Songs of a Lost World is out. Robert says it's the last. Been a fan for years. Of course they haven’t put out anything worth listening to in 30 years. This is more or less in the style of Disintegration.

I’m also a fan of good recordings and dynamic range. Here you go. The deluxe 2-CD DR CD1 = 5, CD2 = 5. Total range for both = 4-6. Crap.

I like it. Have heard it a few times now. It is supposed to be the first of a trilogy. Seems they have a ton of recorded material.

Have yet to hear the new release, but I caught a live show in 2023. My 2nd Cure concert, the first being on the Kiss Me (x3) tour; yeah, I’m old.

Anyway, as I imagine many are here, I have high standards for a great show. The 2023 Cure preformed exquisitely! There were times where they rocked pretty hard, there were longish intersting/textural instrumental passages, and almost every song was evolved or reinterpreted in arrangements that were fantastic. They most definitely were not an oldies act performing the hits. In my opinion (and much to my surprise) they sounded wholly vital and thriving as a live act. Would be delighted to see them again!

There was an album release show livestream on YouTube on the Cure channel. They played the new album in its entirety. November 1 also was the 45th anniversary of the release of Seventeen Seconds. The band played a few songs from that as well.I watched the livestream and the mix was quite good for YouTube.

Just played the new album on streaming on the all tube system.  Pretty cool to hear the old familiar band with a modern recording spin. Enjoyable to just sit back and let the whole album play. I bet the hardcore Cure fans really appreciate this.
