Anyone?
Silnote cables are very good. Not in the upper echelons, but not damaging in any way. I have only had a few Morrows and they are decent. It appears the farther up the chain you just get more of the same wire. Not exactly sure on that, but Silnote does change his metallurgy and configuration. Much prefer SR, Siltech, and Cardas presently. But, I have a mixed bag of cables so take that for what it is worth. SR are very clean and musical, Siltech are dead quiet but not the end-all in musicality, and Cardas is very musical bit don't overdo their presence as they are not as clear as SR tend to be. PAD, Kubala, Stealth - all wonderful cables as well. |
I’m all Morrow. 4 and 5 series. Why? They are reasonably priced. The people who work there seem like good people. They respond to email. They’re in Kentucky. But two big reasons: they compare well to other cables I’ve used: Nordost, Acoustic Zen, Kimber Select at a much lower price. And, they are very flexible. I’m done trying to route thick garden hoses over under around and back. |
I have Silnote Anniversary II Master Reference speaker cables and various levels of their interconnect cables, and find them to be very musical and dynamic. I also have Morrow subwoofer cables and couldn't tell much difference/ improvement from their level 5 to the SVS cables they replaced. Both are well made. Silnote has a range of offerings to suit your budget, as does Morrow, but Morrow's price wobbles dramatically depending on their sale of the month. That's a good thing when you're buying, bad if you want to sell them. I upgraded from Cardas Clear Sky speaker and IC cables and was very happy with the Silnotes ... until I got Audience Front Row cables. The Audience are MUCH more expensive and do sound better, but not night and day better. Why the change? To see what higher end/ more expensive would bring to my table. It proved to me what I felt when I pulled the trigger and bought them: Silnote is a great value cable, but if you want to spend more, there is a great big world of expensive (and good) cables to choose from, and the law of diminishing returns holds true here. I coincidentally just put the speaker cables on USAM, and have some of their IC's I could part with if you have any interest (sorry for the shameless pitch). Robert |
I saw the title and thought what a strange comparison. And then I see bugredmachine mentioned both and then realized Silnote is not Siltech So many cable choices out there. Choice is good, but do any of you go to a restaurant with a 5 page menu and then can't decide what to order? Anyway, thread is from last June, what did the OP @thirsty93 do? |
