sub woofer amp hot on Vandersteen 5a's

My sub woofer amps on my 5A's are getting very hot. So hot that it is uncomfortable for me to keep my hand on the fins of the amps after they have been going for awhile. Is this normal?

Simple solution....dont leave your hands on there and then it wont be uncomfortable.

You left the door open on that one and surprised others havent commented on this yet.

But getting back to your question, what volume levels are you listening at when you notice this ?
if you are playing at loud volumes for a while and then turn the volume to normal listening does the amp remain warm to the touch or does it cool down ?
Since it was both of us discussing this, I sent this member an email ( faster response ) suggesting the same thing that member Danlib 1 did.
Is the source digital or vinyl? If it is vinyl, perhaps the amps are overloaded attempting to reproduce subsonic rumble.
I played my 5A for a long session the other night. I felt the sub amp, and must say they were not warm at all.
