The Good Stuff

There are simply two kinds of music, good music and the other kind ... the only yardstick by which the result should be judged is simply that of how it sounds. If it sounds good it's successful; if it doesn't it has failed. --  Duke Ellington

This purpose of this thread is to provide a place to post outstanding examples of the Good Music.

Ralph Towner’s "Solstice".

My introduction to ECM.

Found it at the public library some 50 years ago.

Track 1, Oceanus

@ghosthouse

I love our library system here. They have an amazing amount of Jazz between all the branches that I can order on the app and go pick up CD’s and DVD’s when they come to my branch.

@curiousjim

Sounds good.  You are fortunate to have your library as a resource for music.  I've been using Bandcamp and All About Jazz Weekly to find new (to me) titles and then Tidal to sample them.  Some do turn into "must buys".

Looked at the system you have posted.  Very nice.  I bought an H390 myself some months back.

@ghosthouse

check your library for The Penguin Guide To Jazz recordings.  It’s 1300 pages of Jazz musicians and groups. If it’s not at your library, it is on Amazon.  I can’t say I have found a better book on Jazz people.
