Upgrade to a better server. Ideas?

I have a lumin x1 and would like to upgrade my server, which is now a nucleus.

Is there anything out there that just satisfies the server needs without going into the streamer and DAC stuff?

The aurender n20 is a streamer so to use that to replace a nucleus when I already have a streamer doesn't make sense.

The marketing at this equipment is very convoluted it is very unfortunate that these types of recommendations are not well thought out.

I'll take a look at what you recommend from Belgium.

depends on what you are trying to accomplish are you using the x1 as a usb dac if so a better server will produce superior sound if you are streaming over the network no real difference

we import a fantastic line of servers from Belgium 432evo

our Aeon model beat a 12k aurender n20 and a 25k innous statement

our servers are modular and upgradable and are full Roon cores and endpoints

I run one of these.  Mine is 96Gb EEC RAM and 10Tb RAID 10 array but configure it however you want.  Bomber construction and everything is redundant.  Install whatever OS you want.  I use Windows 10, no problem.  It will run concurrent 4k video streams to 4 Plex endpoints without missing a beat. Music is far less demanding.  Obviously you'd use wired ethernet for everything.

The zenith has streamer capabilities which I don’t need.

I am only focusing on the server.

The Innuos ZEN line is a server first and foremost, with a streamer built in, and an optimized excellent one. You can certainly use it as a server only, like I do with my ZENITH MK3 for my secondary system.

By that token, your existing Roon Nucleus is not just a server. Can you stream out of it? You sure can.

If the server has the streamer it may impact Signal delivery and I already have a streamer as part of the lumin x1 which seems fine

Im not sure if a different server will make a significant difference in sound quality but if you have a "larger" music collection you might want to give Andrew Gillis at Small Green Computer and look at one the i5, i7, or i9 servers.  Also consider  watching a few of Andrew's video or better yet email / call him about cabling and the use of fiber.  The X1 is a good piece of equipment.  I would see how he suggests leveraging its capabilities.

I'm not associated with SGC just very happy with their customer support and equipment.
