Your last concert was to see who and when?

Pretty simple, what and when was your last concert?

Probably a local swing band with Elana James (from Hot Club of Cowtown) on fiddle and vocals, Paul Glasse on mandolin and vocals, Terry Hale on bass, and a "nameless" drummer and steel guitar player (he was an ex-Ernest Tubbs sideman). The music was excellent.

I share Elizabeth's sentiments and rarely go to hear live music.
Georgepv, you're right--there's nothing like a Tommy Emmanuel show. Part vaudeville and part old-time tent revival held together by the most incredible guitar playing imaginable. With the passing of Paco de Lucia, Tommy may be the undisputed king of the guitar.
I like Mahler's 1st--a lot. I heard another Mahler (2nd?) symphony performed a few years back and it was like 90 minutes of driving through a Kansas wheatfield until the chorus sang for a minute and transported us all to a better place. It was not worth the effort. But again, I think his first (The Titan) is just fine. The rest is not for me (I have checked some other Mahler symphonies out on recordings)
Miro Quartet, tonight (4/3/15)--Schubert #15. Would have stayed for the sextet (Schoenberg, Transfigured Night) but the AC was blasting too cold for me to stick around. Very nice first half, though.
Puddles Pity Party, late June. You've got to see this 7-ft. tenor clown perform once in your life. Very different--great covers, good entertainment. Worth every penny and every minute spent at the show.
Bdp, that reminds me--a friend once dropped acid and went to an E. Power Biggs organ concert. Must have been fantastic.
Rod Argent and Colin Blumstone (sp?) did a "tiny desk show" on NPR a while back and it was good. It's probably on youtube by now if anyone is interested.
Last night (3/7/15), Oz Noy Trio at Saxon Pub, Austin. Roscoe Beck on bass and Chris Layton, drums. Oz is my favorite "young" electric guitarist on the scene.
Last Friday (4/1/16), Kevin Burke at Fiddler's Green in Austin.  Masterful Irish fiddling (as usual for him).
Brian Wilson, Pet Sounds tour, May 13 at Moody Theater, Austin.  His voice is far from what it was, but the band was very good and it was a great evening with a couple of magical moments.
John McLaughlin, Jimmy Herring and their bands--separately and then together (playing tunes from the Mahavishnu Orchestra songbook) at the Paramount Theater in Austin, 11/30/17.  Supposedly it was Mclaughlin's farewell tour.  He's still at the top of his game and it was great to hear him play those great tunes from the 70's again (as well as his newer material).  I hadn't heard Mr. Herring before but he is a fine guitarist with a good band behind him.  All in all, a good night out.
Thalea String Quartet, in-store at Terra Nova Violin Shop in Austin (TX), April 6.  Sitting dead center, ten feet away from the performers has me re-evaluating my thinking for volume and spatial parameters when trying to re-create live chamber music. Before that, Wood Brothers, Dec. 1 at Paramount Theater in Austin.   Upright bass sound sucked but otherwise a very enjoyable show.
