Polish Music?

I'm doing some research for a production and I need some classic polish music. Especially sad Polish music.

Can anyone help?

There's a center for the study of Polish music at the University of Southern California: if you have a particular need for instrumentation or period, I'm sure an email to them would get you exactly what you need.
Wow! I just got back from there. The statue of Chopin in Warswa, in the park next to the Belvedere Palace, is a hand that is morphing into a tree bending over him. I am wondering more what your project is, but you have a great list from Aida w. And I second the Symphony of Sorrows; Upshaw always makes me cry and ask 'How could you?'
You should seek out recordings of the Polish ex-patriot composer, Sir Andrez Panufnik. He defected to Gt.Britain in the mid-50's. He passed away in the 90's.

It's hard to describe his music but I'll try by saying he is a modernist with warm but dramatic feelings. His third symphony "Symphonia Sacra" is his most famous composition. There is an excellent recording of it on the Nonesuch label. If it's not in print, it'll still be rather easy to find.

I think he wrote 10 symphonies. Also, many chamber pieces.

Check him out! He is in the same league as Pendereski, Lutoslowski, Gorecki, and others.
