Why even bother?

I have some general questions.
How any audiophile could be serious about having tuner in his of her system?
The FM signal is so compressed that sound is way far inferior to the sound from any records, CD and even tape.
Why some hi-end companies are still produce them?
I haven't seen any discussions regarding this matter.
What is your opinion?
Thanks.

We mostly use our tuner for CBC 1 which is mainly talk programming. Yes, a Sony table radio would do just as well. The kids use it for their "music" when we're out. Sometimes I use it to catch live music broadcasts where content is the key. Apparently European FM broadcasting is higher quality than ours, jusatifying the cost of tuners like the Naim NAT01.
Simply for the unexpected.
Second the new exposure post.I really enjoy shows like 'The Other Side' which is aired on a very clean sounding listener sponsored station which also plays vinyl.Couple of good FM show hosts(sultry voiced) deliver occasional jokes, news and drinks recipe. Tuner is great for warm up.
The reason I have a tape player is that I have on tapes something that I don't on CD or vinyl. Otherwise niether tape player or tuner is realy serious for an audiophile... and it's true.
I got a question...
Why does it bother you so much that somone could actually like the radio that you had to ask about it in a thread?
Let em have thier tuners, they enjoy them, there is nothing wrong with that.
have you heard a high quality tuner before? I was positively amazed by a magnum dynalab tuner when I first heard one.
