A Tombstone in the Living room????

I have read that granite is awesome to put under electronics.Ive also read how very expensive it is.I went to our friendly neighborhood tombstone maker and asked if he could sell me some.(yes he asked what I wanted it for) I hate that! anyway he showed me some "pet markers" 18"x 12"x2" at $120 !! Then he remembered he had a scrap piece.(polished on 1 side)30"x 18"x 3" he said I could it have for $20!! He offered to cut it for $10 so I can end up with 2 pieces 15"x 18"x3" for $30 anyway, has anyone used granite under their components and how did it work out?

Great! But I got ripped-off by my neighbour hoof granite-man. I paid $400 for 4 -21*17*1.25 nice gray-black, corner rounded/smoothed. But I still saved about that much compared to the shelf and stuff
Nilthepill,I dont think you got ripped off.Granite is very expensive.I lucked out is all.I plan on just putting a soft, thin, rubbery mat between the granite and the shelves.Anyone have another idea?
Down here in the South, we use two dead 'possums under our turntables. Sounds real good but ya gotta change 'em every few days. I was bringing two of them across country to demo for a friend of mine. The ticket agent at the airline asked me if I wanted to check them as luggage but I told him "no thanks, they're carrion.
I keep an urn of my dead cat's ashes on top of my CD player. Makes the speakers purr.
