They were never $6k. Started at $7500, went up to $8k, then $9k now.

When they came out a few years ago they were in the $6K range (right?) and now they are $9k....
I am unware of any modifications or upgrading that has taken place over this same time period. Is that true?
Is there any reason for the price increase other then supply and demand?
