Yes. I would agree that Zappa did make incredible richly textured and beautiful music in his day--his guitar playing was under-rated against the other heroes from that era. I had a boss in the early 1980's who dated him when he was attending Pomona College--told me he was brilliant.

Yep, I would second the Brooks Berdan recommendation. I heard a relatively inexpensive VTL amp driving some Wilson Sophias in a relatively small room there and the sound was mesmerizing.

My suggestion would be to contact Jay Kaufman at Audio Revelation (San Diego). He carries many lines of great products and is very knowledgeable and helpful as well as being a hell of a nice guy. I'd recommend Gene Rubin Audio in Ventura for a taste of the British sound. Small room systems are what the Brits do best.
