Synergistic Red Fuse ...

I installed a SR RED Quantum fuse in my ARC REF-3 preamp a few days ago, replacing an older high end fuse. Uhh ... for a hundred bucks, this little baby is well worth the cost. There was an immediate improvement upon installation, but now that its broken in (yes, no kidding), its quite remarkable. A tightening of the focus, a more solid image, and most important of all for my tastes, a deeper appreciation for the organic sound of the instruments. Damn! ... cellos sound great! Much improved attack on pianos. More humanistic on vocals. Bowed bass goes down forever. Next move? .... I'm doing the entire system with these fuses. One at a time though just to gauge the improvement in each piece of equipment. The REF-75se comes next. I'll report the results as the progression takes place. Stay tuned ...

Any comments from anyone else who has tried these fuses?

One way to determine when your audio system has "arrived," is when your friends stop saying "Hey, your SYSTEM sounds great," and instead they begin to say: "Hey, those GUYS sound great."
Frank,
Very well said and true. The better the system the more attention/focus is drawn directly to the music and musicianship as opposed to cerebral/analytical dissection of the sound.
tommylion, Your post above reminded me of my listening notes after I received my SMc DNA 225/Ultra 15 upgraded amp from Steve a year ago. While I had Hi-Fi Tuning fuses installed, (on the list of most sonically important items I had to choose from on my upgrade (I did give a budget of $2500, I already had the Plitron as I upgraded from a previous Platinum), the fuses were down on the list of most important things according to Pat & Steve.

If you know of McCormack, they test/listen, re-test, re-listen to everything including different solders on specific circuit board soldered items. I trust their expertise on their products. I don't doubt others' experiences with the Synergistic fuses. There aren't on my "to do list".

Happy listening!
The fact, (in my case), that since Steve has control over ALL aspects of his designs may be A deciding difference in this debate.
Astro58go,

Do you still have a Hifi-Tuning fuse in your DNA 225 amp? Have you listened to your amp with a standard(non-audiophile) fuse? I am curious if you would hear a difference.
