Check out the album by Lumineers, called Ophelia !! This album is outstanding, and in the Alt. Country, Americana genre.
Also , have you listened to a band called Phosphorescent ? Check out their 2013 masterpiece called Muchacho. Those are two albums that I consider perfect! Enjoy!
Not Alt Country, but equally awesome is Mutual Benefit's album called Loves Crushing Diamond.

Certainly a genre-bending offering.  Some music may inspire one  to jump up and dance, this seems to invite the listener to lie back and breathe deeply.  The second album, Skip a Sinking Stone, is a continuation of the same sound and is also very good.  Both of the albums are quite accessible.  Good stuff.
