WATT PUPPY 3/2 WHAT AMPLIFIER?TWEETER

I JUST CAN'T SEEM TO TIGHTEN THE BASS ON THE 2'S. CAN SOMEONE SUGGEST AN AMPLIFIER TO MAKE THOSE DRIVERS MOVE? ALSO, I LOVE THE 3 OLD FOCAL TWEETER - MANY PEOPLE UPGRADED TO THE 5'S TITANIUM TWEETER - IS IT A MORE MUSICAL UPGRADE IF I GO FOR THE 5 MID AND TWEETER CONVERSION?

Hi,

It would help if we knew which amp and speaker cable you're using now. My own experience with the tweets on WATT 3 is that the original is laid-back and fatigue-free; the new one is more detailed, but needs to be calmed down a bit.
Best of luck,
Joe
I used the Electrocompaniet 120 on my III's a lot of current and balanced sound. Stay away from the V upgrade - a friend of mine went to it and back again.
I have heard the 3/2 at length with several amplifiers. They sounded great in the bass with the Bryston 4BST, almost as good but fuller with the ARC D300 in the bass, and the Music Reference RM9 MKII was a good match. This using the Cardas Hex 5 golden. The Straightwire Maestro also worked well. The best cable bet is the matching MIT with the Tail. For maximum slam, the Bryston 4BST or better yet the 7BST will deliver. The other choices are very good too. I tried a Sonic Frontiers SFS80 also. Good midrange, but the bass was weak. Good luck, and listen to all the amps you can. The speakers are ruthlessly revealing. Levinson gear has traditionally been very good. Spectral will also be good. Happy listening, Jeff
I am using Audio Note Ankuro amplifiers (PSE-845 mono blocks) that give the speakers a real musical nature, detail, warmth, and good bass. On very large orchestral pieces the limitation of 75W dynamics constrained. I home auditioned a pair of Atmas-sphere MA2 MKII.2 and these amps made my W3/P2 sing even more beautifully than before' fantastic dynamics, and even much better bass. That's 200W of OTL amp having few deficiencies. I've always preferred tubes rather than SS so I just don't care for W3/P2 with SS. Just not musical enough for me. This may say something about the speakers, amps or me. Since my W3/P2 are highly modified and I have a very good room for them. I'm going to upgrade my amplifiers after auditioning higher powered tube units.
To be honest, I could never get the bass tight with my Puppy 2s in my room. This may sound like Wilson heresy, but the best I got was using an external active crossover to bypass the internal crossover and biamped them. The sound improved even further when I used a digital EQ to smooth out the room response.
