Classe closes Montreal operations

Classe has closed it's Montreal operation and has let everyone go. All warranties and parts will be taken care of through B&W. A customer at the $20,000 High end thread on AVS forum received a letter from Classe informing him of the situation. Looks like the rumors were true.

There was some excitement when they first began, like with the DR-9, but after a while, their image became very dull and me-too. This is a tough business, and you have to find a way to keep people interested, not just be competent.
I had a CDP-10 player which was excellent and a SSP-30 preamp excellent for music and movies. That was around 2003 w/the old design.

FWIW, All B&W speakers except 800 series are now made in China. The 800’s are still being made in England from ground up.

Classe has never been the same ever since David Reich was forced out of the company.
Rotel has no worries in this shutdown. Rotel is distributed through the B&W network but is still owned separately.
