SoCal FM radio casualty

Good point willemj, I didn't even think about internet radio although I use it.  Now that we have access to all those stations from all over the world, some will survive and others will shut down.  At least they won't all be owned by Clear Channel.

willemj-my dispair occurs only in my car, which isn't equipped with "modern" technology-no Bluetooth to stream from a device.

At home, my Mac MR71 serves me well. I've read   mixed reviews comparing GOOD FM tuner vs. Internet/service.. Since I dont use either at home, so can't comment on SQ.

There used to be some really great FM stations out of L.A. and Long Beach. Anyone remember KNOB out of Long Beach and a DJ named Sleepy Stein?

oregonpapa-the station was located on top of  Signal Hill, a small incorporated area in the middle of Long  Beach. I ride my bike up that hill regularly. The area is now over priced homes, and a plaque reminding  people what used to be there. 

Down the hill, was a club called the Foothill where many big Country  names performed during the 40/50's. By the 70's it was a dump, changed a few hands, and now the area is unrecognizable with more over priced real estate.

Time marches on.....still rockin the ART9

If you're from that era did you ever make it up to Hermosa Beach and frequent the Lighthouse? I spent many a night there listening to the Lighthouse Allstars. Great jazz.
