Original Post would like to add:
I attended to RMAF 2016 and really enjoyed it and will do it again. I was able to see, listen and meet a lot of gears and designers. Axpano 2018 is coming up in Chicago in May and I'm curious what it is about. What am I expecting diff from RMAF? Thanks again
AXPONA. Chicago, around April. It's on the web.

Good show, lot's to see. New venue this year, so jury's out on room sound.
If you read the letters in Stereophile, then there is one in Jan-2018 where a gentleman shares his experience at RMAF. Basically he says how snobbish that show was and people looked down upon him (that is the feeling, he says he got) when he requested certain type of music to be played. I have not been to RMAF, so cannot confirm. Don't shoot the messenger, just read the letter in Stereophile. It is a sad situation if that case is true. As such our hobby is dying and snobbishness is not going to get us anywhere. In fact it will diminish this hobby even at a faster rate.

But I have been to AXPONA twice and it has been nothing but wonderful. I did not detect any snobbishness and they played any music that I requested. I highly recommend AXPONA. The only thing I would say is plan on spending AT LEAST 2 FULL days. And even then you would still want more.
